FOR EARTH DAY
"These images are meant as metaphors to the dilemma of our modern existence; they search for a dialogue between attraction and repulsion, seduction and fear. We are drawn by desire - a chance at good living, yet we are consciously or unconsciously aware that the world is suffering for our success."
-Edward Burtunsky
Edward Burtynsky is one of the most respected artists working at the forefront of the environmental movement. Like Ansel Adams fighting to preserve Yosemite and other parks, Edward Burtynsky creates hauntingly beautiful images of mining, shipping grave yards, quarries, spills, etc., while trying to bring awareness to the environment around him. Edward Burtynsky is represented by a number of galleries in the US, Canada and one in Europe. He was also a recipient of the TED Prize in 2005
