It's Portfolio Review Time!!!
Wednesday, May 30, 2007
Imagine sitting up on stage while three judges pour over the results of 10 months of very hard work and make detailed notes about what they see, both good and bad. Meanwhile you sit on stage alone or with your peer group waiting for the results.
The scores are collected and you hear a guy on a microphone say. Insert student's name - Portfolio Accepted or Rejected!
How stressful is that! 10 months of hard work up on the wall. Will the wall crumble or hold up to the scrutiny of the judges? Ahhhhh!
Let's hear it Hallmark Students, tell us all about your sweaty palms and beating hearts! I remember it well!

Mark, several people have been rejected this year for various different reasons. Some for cropping, others for printing, a lot of people have to reshoot certain things, and many others for obvious lack of passion. BUT- not one portfolio that lacked all potential. You don't go through a program like Hallmark and leave with nothing... it's impossible.
I'm proud of most everyone!
It is hard to sit on that stage in front of a group of people. My portfolio review was on the first day so, of course, the entire student body was present. Lucky for me, I passed and the judges were very complimentary. When everyone asked me what it was like, all I could say was that you didn't know anyone else was in the room other than you and those judges. They look you in the eyes throughout the entire critique and so you're forced to block everyone else out and see and know only of them. I felt amazing- it's when you know for certain that this IS what you will do for a living and that you DID make it. From here it's all determination baby! Good luck to everyone still waiting on the review process and I'll certainly be there for most of them!!! Can't wait for graduation!

I would have to say that, thats a picture of my website and my portfolio being reviewed. It was such a great experience. The comments and the encouragement were outstanding. The judges really push you to crate your best work possible.
