the Lawrence Arms

Before we moved to sunny CA we visited and it just so happened that one of my better half's favorite bands was playing in the parking lot of the Oakland A's stadium, which we caught wind of the night before when we saw them blow the roof off of a modest local venue in San Francisco. With my camera in tow we got off the BART and proceeded to search for the tailgate. His ears perked up and he said "I think I hear them. They're playing over there." To my amazement he was right and the show was even more spectacular than the other one, partly because it was so informal. The bands played under a tent inches from the crowd and the owner of Asian Man Records was grilling turkey dogs for everyone, which were free. So I snuck around into the neighboring tent where the bands were storing their gear and fired away.
I took photos of several bands who performed that afternoon. All of this I was doing for myself, no one was paying me, and it was a great way for me to be very happy with photography after graduation.
I don't show my work often or to many people, which I know is silly. Despite that I knew that the bands and the labels would be very happy to have the images, which I happily emailed low res files to, and their responses were great. After the fact all that mattered was that I was there for that, and I got my name out there. the Lawrence Arms even posed for a portrait after it was over, and they invited us to the game, but we sadly had to decline.
The images I posted are a couple of my faves, hope you enjoy them too.
