Drop and Pop, Commercial Work
Wednesday, October 10, 2007
Here's a posting that's worth looking at for all the new students at Hallmark. You know all those classes in commercial studio where you have to photograph boxes? Fixing your horizontal and vertical perspectives? Photographing on a seamless white/studio gray? If you haven't had the classes yet, you will. Take it to heart, pay attention and remember the details. Those diagrams Dick hands out are keepers!
I was called on to photograph products for the magazine I freelance for, thinking maybe I have to do still-life or something. When the creative director said, "on white, same lighting, each product photographed separately, put an x on the paper", I smiled and thought, "Hallmark Commercial Studio 101". Enjoy!

the other night my roommate (freelance graphic designer/ non-hipster) was having trouble doing silho's for a client. i happily took control of the pen tool and worked some magic! (and all the while clinch some more side jobs!) - At October 11, 2007 2:14 PM, Maria Silva said...

Drop and Pops AAAAAAAA i was NEVER very good lol in fact i do not know which i avoid more Waddings or commercial photography. BUT i had to on accation use what i leard to do some. well i did not have the proper set up ie no vewe camera i just made things up as i went and i could hear Dick's voice in my head and did the best i could. and it was a good thing that i was the only one that had any idea how to pull the photo off lol.
i WHSH i could now sit a cross Dick's desk and talk to him now. he is SOOOO blunt and that is a good thing :)
