These photos demstrate where appling what you can do when you apply what I learned from using windo light and lamps in my apartment when I was shooting the art stuff.
The same things holds true out shooting a news story. Just you can not pose the people you are photoing. But you can be looking for what makes a good photo by lamp light a good photo by stage light.
As some one that shoots for a small town newspaper not all is of car wrecks and house fires lots of the time your covering the high school play or a dance recital or small fires or wrecks. These can be rather boring and repetive BUT you HAVE to do them. So there you are and it is the high schools art week agen or the dance schools big dance recital. What do I do. First I get in the right mind set. I for got who sed it but at hallmark a teacher sed once “you never know your next photo might make you’ this is important and will show in the work that you do. A bad attude can make you photos bad. Get the program , it can give you information on what is happing at what times this will help devlop a plan to as how your going to cover the evint. An exaple is maby the Mayer is going to speek at the art show that is some thing of intrest. The next thing that I sujest is walk around a bit, this assiment there is no real reson to rush (well unless the dead line is coming up) look for the places that have the best lighting ect or get a fell for the lighting most of the time this takes only a minet. With the program and the walk around you can come up with how your going to cover the evint and get some desent photos out of it. Also know how other photojs usly shoot these things some of them have been doing it for years and try to get things that are different then what they usly get this will set your photos apart. Then there is luck, in other tips of photography the photographer controls the lighting how the person dresses, and the posing in photoj be PARARD for a good photo at any time and that good photo may never come at all. This sort of plays in to attued also this may not be a big deal to you BUT it is to the kids and there parence so treat it as if your going to be covering the Bosten Pops or the Russen Ballay or a art exibet at a big New Yourk art gallery, this will bring in readers and you will get good photos because if your at lest showing some intrest you will get more help and more acess and access in photoj is every thing. And it may not just at the art week stuff but later when people rember you at a bigger story.
