Bridal Images!
Wednesday, November 28, 2007
I photographed this couple's engagement session a few weeks back and just shot their bridal session. Usually the groom won't come along but it is becoming more and more popular for them to do so. We drove clear out into the stick to get to some sweet spots. This couple is is having a rock'n wedding and I can't wait for it.

Great images Jason! How are you getting the sky (in the second from the bottom)? Are you taking multiple exposures or are you using wireless flash?

THANKS Kameron! It is all about Off camera flash.. I am not a huge fan of flash but when i use it it is almost always off camera. I have my pocket wizard hooked up to a 580ex flash. Then then is mounted to a mini shoft box that is like 2x2 or something. It really works wonders.
I dont try to get all technical with the exposure I meter with the histogram. and shoot away. - At November 28, 2007 1:51 PM, Wayne Wallace said...

Jason,
How about showing us a few before and after shots?
Straight out of the camera and then after you tweak them. - At November 28, 2007 4:05 PM, kbayne said...

What kind of softbox? How much does that limit your power output? I've been afraid to go that route because I think I'd have to get something more powerful than the Speedlites - a Q or something, and start the whole system over again.
Tomorrow I'm doing a large group of 54 folks in a similar lighting situation - I have two 580 speedlites, an assistant and 30 minutes to get it done right. We'll see! - At November 28, 2007 6:15 PM, Jason McGrew Photography said...

Kameron,
The soft box is a PHOTOFLEX. It works great. Alot of the time I dont have the flash output that high. I just want a little fill. I will rarely use it as a main source of light. The 580 is really quite powerful and does great. The softbox is thin so it works well but nothing like a profoto.
You should do fine with the shoot tomorrow. Bounce the light as much as possible. - At November 28, 2007 8:12 PM, kbayne said...

Thanks for the encouragement - I'll let you know how it goes.
As for the softbox, do you have the "xs" (extra small)? Is it fairly movable? Do you set it on a stand? It's aways exciting to find new ways of doing things.
Thanks for your inspiration, Jason. - At November 28, 2007 9:33 PM, Jason McGrew Photography said...

I have the small. When you order it you have to buy a few other parts for it. I am not sure what they are. I bought mine are Pictureline.com. I went to the store and they helped me though. You could call them and talk to them.
I dont use a stand as I an way to active when shooting and move around like crazy. I actually have my wide hold it. She is getting awesome at it and knows where to place the light most of the time. - At February 18, 2008 10:58 PM, daniel meigs said...
