A shoutout to the four current Hallmark students I meet in downtown Newport last Sunday!!! I was out walking with my boyfriend on Sunday afternoon, and I spotted four Mamiya 645AFDs with Leaf backs! I stop and say to my boyfriend, "Those guys have GOT to be from Hallmark!!" Post some Newport pictures! I want to see! Did you guys make it to the Brick Alley or the mural at Firehouse Pizza? See you all again on November 20th!

Your weddings are terrific. How do go about marketing for them? Are you simply word of mouth. I can understand the word of mouth because they are stunning. -

Glenn, thanks for the kind words. I get some purely through Google searches to the website. I'm trying out AdWords. I send over photos of their hotel/flowers/food/cakes/etc in exchange for referrals.
Get in good with hotels. They have sent me soo much business. Not just weddings, but big $$$ corporate functions. I cover seminars for $125/hour. An 8 hour day over a 4 day convention on weekdays.
Not a bad thing.
Also, I signed up for a few localized Newport wedding planning sites where I am 1 of 10 photographers. Any sites with more then 15 photographers, I won't waste money on. The "bridal rags" were a big expensive lesson.
It also helps that I went back to my hometown. I wasn't starting from scratch not knowing a single soul in town. -

PS- One more thing. I get a few weddings every year from other photographers that are already booked. I also send out brides to my friends when I'm already booked. digitalweddingforum.com has really helped me to network with people in my immediate area. It's very very helpful to be NICE and be FRIENDS with your "competition". Some guys don't want photographer friends. Nothing you can do. But there's lots of nice people out there that want to be friends, and having that referral network is great.
