Winter Family Portraits
Saturday, December 15, 2007
So today, I got to spend some time with a really fun family! Chris (dad) is in the Army and was home for two weeks from serving in the Middle East. He goes back on Tuesday, so I wanted to rush the editing on this session so they could share the photos together.
Now originally, when Jane (mom) called me, she told me she was hoping the weather would hold up so that we could go to the beach. Unfortunately, we got that snow storm on Thursday, so I called my great friends at a local hotel I shoot at quite a bit, and they allowed us to use their hotel. We did brave the cold for a few outside. We'd actually said 'goodbye' and were walking to the cars, and then I spotted these great doors and I just had to do a couple in this new spot. (Which I will totally be using again with brides, couples and senior pictures!! You all know I'm constantly on the lookout for great new spots!)
BLOG There's a 1 minute slideshow on my blog with more images.

I shot some standard family portrait stuff...but here are the more 'unusual' ones that I like:
I've been dying to use this wallpaper for a portrait for a while now. Vicki Taufer of V Gallery spoke at the Professional Photographers of Rhode Island Association convention at this hotel last year and we were talking about how great this wallpaper would be for portraits. I'll have some brides against it in Wedding Season 2008. (All you portrait photographers should look Vicki up if you haven't seen her site yet. She's a great person and a inspiration to us all.)

Nice shots!
I went to Vicki's studio after graduation and hung out with her for a few days.

Yeah, Wayne...I noticed one of your PR portraits was by Vicki. It's a great shot....the one against that reddish wall.
