The 4 Phases of HallmarkHIPsters.net
Thursday, January 17, 2008
In true Hallmark tradition I've laid out my vision for HallmarkHipsters.net in 4 phases below.
Phase One - The Blog
I started the blog as a way to start building some community among the Hallmark Alumni and many of you have jumped in, posted images, and inspired many people with your work -- Thank You!
Keep posting your images and encourage your Hallmark buddies who aren't here yet to jump on board too.
Phase Two - The Hallmark Chat Area
I was asked if I could start a message board area where we could gather and discuss things like equipment, marketing, technique, etc. Since I already had a message board setup and a small group of amateur photographers gathering at www.funwithphotography.com, a domain I purchased before attending Hallmark, I decided to kick start the HIPsters forum here.
It's starting to pick up some traffic, but we definitely need your presence here too. Come visit regularly and post something - don't just be a lurker. You do need to register, but after that it's really easy and a great place to have conversations about all kinds of things. The blog isn't really the right forum for discussions.
I will be starting a new section in the forum on the topic of the creativity. I'm gathering and studying materials on the creative process and how to nurture, promote and stay in a creative rhythm and avoid burn out in our day to day grind of business, so come join in the discussion and get your creative juices flowing again.
Phase Three - The Integration
I'm looking at new technologies and ways to integrate the forum and the blog and build a true all in one inclusive community and environment for the Hallmark Alumni, current students, and those that want to follow in our footsteps.
Together we are the future of this industry!
Phase Four - The Hallmark HIPsters Network
You're probably part of some type of online photography forum. I've joined just about everyone out there at some point. We go to photography conferences, and workshops.
Why do we do all this?
We are seeking the fellowship and connection we had while we were in school. One of the reasons my experience at Hallmark was great was because of you, my class mates. We learned from each other, supported each other, pushed each other, got mad at each other, had fun with each other, and even cried on each others shoulders.
That's what this is all about, carrying on that same Hallmark fellowship and community even after graduation and encouraging those that want to follow in our footsteps and become a part of our family too.
I'm doing all I can to build this alumni network, but I can't do it without your help.
