Retouching Help?!
Wednesday, April 16, 2008
Hello everyone!
I have started a retouching business as a side way to earn some money. Unfortunately, at this point I am broke, but have gained several costumers over the last few days. My question is....does anyone have a good retouching contract? I would like to join ASMP and APA eventually, but can't afford it currently. They have great contracts, but are only available to members. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Matt

Matt,
You might want to try at Amazon.com
Business and Legal Forms for Photographers (with CD-ROM) (Business and Legal Forms)
by Tad Crawford (Jan 1, 2002)
It had good reviews and may help you out just by changing the wording on a contract. - At April 25, 2008 11:10 PM, Josh Bobb said...

Ummm, that's a pretty general question. What kind of contract(s)? What kind of retouching? What kind of clients? What kind of usage? What kind of....you get the idea.
If you give us some more details, maybe we can give you a better answer. Also, you should consider posting a more in-depth question to the ASMPProAdvice and APAnet forums. There are TONS of great people on those lists with loads of information and willing to share it all.

Matt,
I don't think ASMP or APA has any contract specificly for this type of stuff, they have model releases and suggested terms and conditions for photography contracts.
I don't imagine that you need to have a very fancy contract. Simply state what your terms and conditions are for your agreement.
You may want to hire someone like http://www.fotofix.com to retouch some images for you and see what kind of contract they give you as a client and start there.
I would think you want to include things like, submission process, turn around time line, levels of retouching, pricing, special requests, delivery, payments, etc.
